Do I choose a palette in advance?

In some cases, the colors can be the inspiration of a painting, like for the series using the colors of the architecture in town. Other times, I choose colors when I start, but as I work in layers, they are inevitably covered up quickly. I found that using completely different palettes over each others adds dimensions. I can start very bright, and end up in natural soft tones. But my process involves adding and subtracting all the time, so that some details and colors are coming through. Sometimes you only see it from close by. Like hidden stories.
